Europe’s best cost-benefit ratio for labor

Long working hours, high productivity, a strong work ethic and non-wage costs which are low compared with other countries result in a good cost-benefit ratio
for employers. The comparatively high wages reflect the outstanding productivity of workers and the high buying power of the Swiss franc.

Non-wage costs and social insurance contributions in the Greater Zurich Area are low compared with other countries. The limited-profit social insurance system is clearly structured and efficient, and old-age provisions, disability, health and out-of-work insurance are very well established in an international comparison.
