Switzerland ranks fourth in Globalization Index 2007
Switzerland belongs to the most globalized countries
worldwide. The Globalization Index 2007, published by A. T. Kearney
and the magazine «Foreign Policy», places Switzerland fourth behind
Singapore, Hong Kong and the Netherlands. Ireland, Denmark, the
United States and Canada rank behind Switzerland respectively.
The Index measures not only economic integration (including trade
and foreign direct investment) but also technological connectivity
as well as political engagement (including international organizations,
peacekeeping etc.). Switzerland has improved its absolute score
from the year 2006 to the year 2007, owing its top position mostly
to trade, foreign direct investment and technological connectivity.
